Web Site Ranking Tips --> AOL NetFind
AOL NetFind has become one of the major players in the search engine wars. Since its launch in
March of 1997, AOL has been able to use its large online user base to make its search engine a
huge success. Because of some of the large name players on the Internet today have started
their own search engines, like AOL, Microsoft's MSN and Netscape, the older search engines have
had to scramble to try and keep up. With the power of AOL's client base and their recent
acquisition of Netscape, we expect this search engine to be one of the major players for a long
time to come.
AOL NetFind does not have its own database. It uses the Excite database to give its users the
results for any searches they do. This has become very prominent in the past year. We see more
and more of the Major Search Engines aligning themselves with each other and sharing databases.
Even though Excite and AOL NetFind share the same database they do not give exactly the same
results. They seem to run slightly different algorithms. These are so close that we do not
recommend making separate pages for these two search engines. If you can get a good ranking in
Excite you should have the same or slightly different ranking on AOL NetFind.
Make sure you read our tips on how to get a high ranking in Excite and list your page with
Excite and AOL NetFind. They both accept submissions and for the small amount of time it takes
to list with them, you will have all your bases covered.
